MCA (Master of Computer Applications) Lateral Entry Programs

Santhigiri College of Computer Sciences offers Master of Computer Applications (MCA), the most glamorous post-graduate computer degree Programme. We have two year Lateral Entry Program. It is a regular professional course approved by AICTE and affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. We provide not only advanced computer science education, but we also produce towering Software Engineers and they are globally demanded.

Duration of the course

MCA Regular extend over a period of three academic years consisting of six semesters and MCA Lateral Entry is a two year program.

Objective and Methodology

The main objective of this course is to give the students a sound background in computing, business functions and mathematics relevant to information technology. This course aims to train Graduates in the development and use of software for different applications. The teaching methodology includes classroom lectures, seminars, assignments, audio-visual programmes, industry visits, placement training, tie-up with software companies, skill development programmes etc.


MCA Regular: A pass in any recognized Regular Bachelor’s Degree course of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+ 2 level or A pass in any recognized Regular Bachelor’s Degree course of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics / Statistics as one of the subjects or a pass BCA Degree of minimum 3 years duration from a recognized University.

MCA Lateral Entry: A pass with not less than 50% marks in BCA degree of minimum three years duration from a recognized University.

Attendance and Progress

A candidate will be deemed to have completed the course of any semester only if:

  • he/she has put in not less than 75% attendance
  • his/her progress and conduct have been satisfactory


  • The assessment will comprise of sessional assessment and semester examination in certain subjects, and wholly sessional assessment in others, carrying marks as specified in the subject of study and scheme of assessment.
  • All Sessional work shall be valued and marks awarded on the basis of day today performance, periodic tests and assignments.

Passing Requirements

A candidate shall be declared to have passed any subject in full in any semester if he/she secures not less than 50% marks in sessional, not less than 40% marks in the theory examination including project and viva, and not less than 50% of the overall aggregate marks for the subject i.e. Examination marks and internal marks of the subjects put together.

Industry relations

Every MCA batch will have tie-up programs with a software company to gain industry experience and to obtain added training in advanced technologies. Industry visits are also conducted to familiarize with future place of work.


Students are invited to join for MCA at Santhigiri College and earn technical experience in Santhisoft, the software development unit of Santhigiri College.
